If you thought Verizon Wireless had a busy first day at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), wait until you see what happened on AT&T's side of the floor.
AT&T opened a two day developer summit ahead of the announcement of a flurry of new smartphones and mobile devices. In making the announcement at the beginning of CSS, AT&T's president and CEO of AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets, Ralph de la Vega issued the following statement. "Delivering a first-class mobile broadband experience to our customers is at the forefront of everything we do. To achieve this, we’re bringing together the industry’s best 4G smartphone portfolio, a blazing fast LTE 4G network, and innovative applications that stem from our collaborative relationship with the developer community.
Some of the new products that were announced by AT&T include the Nokia Lumia 900, Nokia's first 4G Windows phone. The other products announced all take advantage of AT&T's newly deployed 4G LTE network. They include:
The Samsung Exhilarate, a smartphone constructed from 80 percent recycled post-consumer materials with access to AT&T U-verse® Live TV.
The Pantech Burst™, which combines 4G LTE speeds and the latest Android functionality in a slim, affordable package.
The HTC TITAN II (seen at left), a Windows Phone with a 16-megapixel camera and a 4.7-inch screen, making it perfect for watching movies, playing games, emailing and surfing the Web.
A busy first day indeed for AT&T. Yet they were not alone. Verizon Wireless announced a number of new offerings ranging from smartphones to tablets to mobile hot-spots. This should keep the consumer busy through the next few months. Then the spring arrives with another group of devices designed to offer new features to the public yearning for the latest and greatest thing.
